I and my family have owned cats for a majority of my life growing up. To say that I'm a cat lover would be an understatement; I absolutely adore them! In my professional working life, I have volunteered and later worked at St Hubert's Animal Welfare Center and worked at Madison Animal Hospital. Through these experiences, I gained a deep understanding of cat behavior, proper low-stress handling techniques, and often worked with cats on the medical side of things. While at the shelter, I worked in feline behavior modification (evaluating and socializing semi-feral cats to prepare them for their new lives as spoiled house cats), helped build and maintain a more robust socialization and enrichment program for both cats and our smaller furry and feathery friends, worked in the shelter's spay and neuter clinic, and helped build and run the shelter's Kitten NICU (the first of it's kind on the east coast. we cared for critically and chronically ill orphaned kittens that required more constant intensive care). Nowadays, I am owned by three cats of my own (Jackie, Fidget, and Meliora), foster orphaned bottle babies and ill kittens for several shelters and rescues in the area (Mt. Pleasant, Somerset Regional, and CAPIC/AARG cat and small animal rescue in Hillsborough), and work as a full time professional pet sitter in Somerset County and surrounding areas. In my personal life, I enjoy playing instruments and singing, occasionally work as a musician for hire in the NYC/NJ area, enjoy hiking and photography, spending time in the Adirondacks, playing video games, and just plain hanging out with my own pets (three cats, two rabbits, and a dog) at home. I have tons of experience working with friendly cats, difficult/semi-feral cats, administering all kinds of medications, caring for elderly and chronically ill cats, and ensuring that all physical, emotional, and mental needs of animals are well taken care of in the owner's absence.
